The Act-Ups were born in 2001 - A monster made up of one volt of Iggy,
one hambone of Pickett,one shot of Hank, two injections of Jeffrey Lee and a case of bourbon. Their first record "I Bet You Love Us Too", released in 2003, was the perfect record for your late night garage party, filled with soul-punk anthems and rockin' rave-ups. Well, you probably know "Maledictus Sound“ and "Horrific Child“... This is another rare album project by Jean-Pierre Massiera, recorded and released at the same time as the album Soraya that involves the same musicians ; Massiera is here accompanied with excellent musicians : Tony Bonfils (Synthesis), Daniel Goyonne, André Ceccarelli (CCPP). Crazy, punky, spacy prog funk on “Egg”, “Feeling on My Mind”, “Love Like This” (dope fender rhodes parts ! ), and “You Keep Me Warm My Lady”, this one being a killer white groove that really has the Hidden strength sound, or maybe the late Roy Ayers, if you see what I mean...
A very toxic sound !
